Baby Onesies Quilt
My cousin has three children and she wanted a quilt for herself made with their old onesies and toddler shirts. She also had some matching mommy/baby shirts.
My mom made the quilt top and I longarmed it.
Mom had made t-shirt quilts before, but she said this quilt was much more challenging to make for several reasons. The fabric in onesies is much stretchier than typical t-shirt fabric. Even after adding interfacing, the squares didn’t want to retain their shape. Additionally, since the shirts are so small, it was hard to get even a lap-size quilt.
The quilt top was finally assembled and I longarmed it with the Swirls & Hearts quilting design/panto. I added a hand-written label on the back corner.
The final product was a hit. How could it not be with all of those cute shirts bringing back happy memories?
