Grandmother's Flower Garden

A client brought us a quilt top that her grandmother had hand-pieced. It contained one-inch hexagon flowers sewn into a Grandmother’s Flower Garden pattern.

The edges of the quilt top were not straight, so I appliqued the edges of the top onto a large piece of muslin. This extra layer also reinforced the quilt top. It took quite a while to applique all of the edges because I had to keep turning the top.

On the longarm, I quilted it with a simple meander design so that the quilting would add texture without drawing attention away from the beautiful piecing. I bound the edges and the quilt was completed. The pictures show how beautiful this old vintage quilt turned out.
