Grief and Overlapping Crop Circles

I received a beautiful customer quilt top right before my dad died on January 30th, 2022. The client was very understanding in giving us time to grieve his death. Now, in mid-February I’m still only realizing the beginning of what I have lost in the loss of my dad. I see this quilt as a small beauty amidst the darkness that death brings.

We have someone who has conquered death and born our sins on the cross so that those who believe in Jesus don’t have to live forever in the effects of the fall. “I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39. At the same time, “He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5.

This small quilted beauty among all the confusion, depression, and mourning was a comfort in this time of pain and suffering.
